What is the mean of a set of numbers? It is the sum of data values divided by the number of data values.  What is the median of a set of numbers? Median and Range

 Today's lesson is all about median and range.  Median : is the middle number in a given set of data. example: 9,5,6,8,3 Step 1: Rearrange the numbers from least to greatest. Step 2: 3,5,6,8,9 Step 3: Cross off the numbers starting from left, then right, left then right, until you come up with only 1 number 3,5 ,6, 8,9   In my case I underlined and made the numbers darker. So, the middle number here is 6.  The median is the #6. In some situations there maybe more than 1 number. If there are two middle numbers, you add both of them and divide by 2 to get your median. ex. 4,1,7,6,2,8 Step 1: Rearrange the numbers from least to greatest.              1,2,4,6,7,8 Step 2: Cross off the numbers starting from the left to right, left, to right.
